Survey Results: What You Told Me…Thanks!

Frugal Foodie: Yes, you can have a delicious trip without spending a lot! Eat like the locals!

The survey results are in! Or, as they say on Family Feud, “Survey says…”

Two weeks ago, I asked a few questions to learn what you like best, as well as what can be improved or eliminated. Thanks to all of you who took time to respond to the survey. I was pleased and delighted at the number of survey takers. Very, very helpful!

Today, a quick look at the survey results, and what I’ll be focusing on in future TravelSmart Woman blog posts. Here are the questions and your responses:

Q1: TravelSmart Woman is designed to help readers learn how to travel the world. How am I doing?
Great! I look forward to each blog post: 100%  (THANK YOU!)

Q2: Which blog topics do you like the best? (In descending order)
How to: cheap airfares, stay safe, hotel tips, etc.: 80%
Destinations & travel guides: 50%
Food & recipes: 30%
Photo galleries: 20%
Books & resources: 10%
Travel quotes: 0%

Q3: TravelSmart Woman often writes about solo travel, especially for women who want to learn to go places by themselves. How interesting is this for you?
Love it! More! 40%
It’s a good balance with other topics. 60%

Q4: I really want to help you get out and explore the world. List 3 topics that would be useful:
Sadly (for me) there were no survey responses. Always good to have a spare idea or three!

Q5: What can I do to make TravelSmart Woman better for you? (In descending order)
Off-the-beaten-path places: 80%
Budget travel: 70%
More advice & tips: 40%
Destinations & itineraries: 40%
Cruises: 30%
Resources & links: 30%
Planning & packing: 30%
Solo travel: 20%
Female-specific: 20%
Volunteer travel: 20%

For me, there were a couple of important lessons in these survey results:

  1. No more quotes. Every Thursday, I’ve been finding a travel quote and making a pretty piece of inspiration…or so I thought! There are a couple more in the queue, but then I’ll move on.
  2. The photo galleries are just “meh” for you. Although I will still pop one in now and again, I’m actually relieved. They are a LOT of work, so now I can move on to what you really want…
  3. You actually like more topics than I’d anticipated. Love it! While I wish there had been a few specific requests (great for those times when I have writer’s block) it’s good to know that variety is the spice of this blog’s life.

Again, I appreciate your time and your candor. We’ll do it again later in the year.

In the meantime, may I ask another favor? Tell three people about TravelSmart Woman? I’d love to grow the subscriber list….and improve my Google rank. (It’s all about Google…)

Safe and happy travels!

Survey Results: Enough of the quotes! Message received. (Quote done with Quozio.com)
